On Saturday, one of the first truly miserable weekend days this fall, I was desperate for a steaming mug of hot chocolate, and I didn't want to leave the apartment. After rummaging through the cabinets, I found no chocolate or cocoa but there was an unopened jar of Nutella stashed in a back corner on the top shelf, left over from a cupcake-making spree a few months ago. I heated a cup or so of milk on the stove and just when it started to simmer, I whisked in two heaping spoonfuls of the Nutella. The resulting hot chocolate was thick and luscious, and while perhaps a little too sweet for my taste, it was the perfect way to kill my craving.
