Born and Raised: Toronto
Background: My food-related experience includes a stint at Le Cordon Bleu, writing cookbooks, and being a very, very slow waitress. But really, I'm a food writer. I'm the food editor at House & Home magazine. I have a weekly column in Canada's National Post, and my piece on Daniel Boulud, "Someone's in the Kitchen with Daniel," was included in Best Food Writing 2008. My first novel, Indigestion, will be published in Spring 2011 (I'm secretly hoping Nora Ephron will blurb it). Please visit my website, amyrosen.com.
Proof of Foodie Dedication: I ate my way across Canada—twice—for enRoute magazine, judging the best new restaurants in the country. I made the magazine pay for a larger pair of jeans once I got to Halifax. On the plus side, I was nominated for a James Beard Award for my efforts.
What I'm Doing for Food & Wine: I've covered Passover, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Toronto food scene, and now I'm blogging about the Toronto International Film Festival.
New Favorite Cheap Eat: Banh xeo (crispy Vietnamese rice-flour pancakes)
Food Writing Hero: Alan Richman
Favorite Pastime: Eating chocolate
