Title: Senior Associate Editor

At Food & Wine since: 2006

Born and Raised: Red Wing, Minnesota

Background: I've been an editor at Minnesota Monthly, Wine Spectator and Every Day with Rachael Ray magazines. I've also written a number of children's books, including an upcoming series of cookbooks for kids.

What I Do at Food & Wine: I edit food features and our Well-Being and Tasting & Testing columns, contribute to our cocktail and spirits coverage and develop the occasional recipe.

How I Got Into Food: Watching Julia Child on TV as a toddler, cooking from Mastering the Art of French Cooking as a teenager.

Favorite Cookbook (This Week): Nigel Slater's Real Food.

Ingredient Obsession (This Week): Our Lady of the Resurrection Monastery vinegar from upstate New York.

Guilty Pleasure: Wisconsin cheese curds. Or fried Wisconsin cheese curds-there's a big difference.

Hobby I'm Not Ashamed Of: My salt collection. I won't say how extensive it is, but in ancient Rome, I'd be a billionaire.

Default Cocktail: Manhattan (easy on the vermouth, two cherries).

Retirement Plans: Raising pigs. And after they leave for college, running a pig farm.
