This Sunday, you might find yourself in a bit of a tough position: It’s National Hot Toddy Day, but it’s also January—aka Dry January, for those who chose to start 2015 with a month of sobriety. So how do you celebrate the holiday without compromising your resolution? Presenting the Snow Day, a buzzy hot toddy that gets its kick from espresso instead of booze.
Available at Everyman Espresso, a New York craft coffee shop owned by star barista Sam Penix, the warming drink is the latest in the café’s line of cocktail-inspired espresso drinks. It’s made with espresso (a bright and citrusy Ethiopian blend), lemon juice, honey, hot water, a few dashes of Dale DeGroff’s Pimento Bitters (which is a slight Dry January cheat, since the bitters are technically alcoholic) and an expressed lemon peel. Here, the recipe for Everyman’s Snow Day.
