The Frankies Spuntino Kitchen Companion & Cooking Manual isn't out until early June. But I got a sneak peak the other night before an awesome dinner at Frankies Spuntino in Brooklyn. The book is amazing—it looks so much like the old-school carpenter’s manual it's based on, with illustrations of everything from ingredients to purveyors. And of course, the recipes are great; I know, because we featured a bunch of them in our February feature on Frankies’ Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo. Apparently, a lot of people read that piece, including Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. When Falcinelli offered Robinson his outstanding recipe for spaghetti with clams, Robinson said not to bother—he had the recipe from Food & Wine. And deluxe shoe designer Rachel Comey told Falcinelli the same thing. We love that.
