From locally grown coffee to Galician wine to up and coming artists, these are the places you’ll find the best food, drinks and culture in San Juan.

1. Básico
Enrique created the menu for this new spot. Besides cold-pressed juices and kombucha, there are vegetarian dishes like avocado toasts with poached eggs. 318 Ave. de Diego, Santurce.

2. Bodegas Compostela Vinos, Tapas y Comidas
“For awesome Spanish food and wine,” says Enrique. The bar—which doubles as a wine store—serves excellent Galician whites and snacks like rich chorizo with roasted peppers. 106 Ave. Condado; bodegascompostela.com.

3. Café Hacienda San Pedro
Local beans—grown a couple hours’ drive outside San Juan—are the source for the excellent coffee at this tiny café. On weekends, you can tour the plantation. 318 Ave. de Diego Santurce; cafehsp.com.

4. La Factoría
