Expert wine buyer Devon Broglie's wine picks include a $15 sparkling wine from the Loire valley in France and a Portuguese red with a surprising amount of spice.

NV De Chanceny Crémant De Loire Brut ($15)
"I've got a soft spot for this little sparkling wine because it's the first full-container buy I ever made—a container is around 1,200 cases. I celebrated with a bottle of it when we sold out."

2013 Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc Walker Bay ($19)
"I was in South Africa this past summer, and South African Sauvignon Blanc is delicious. This one has great minerality to complement its subtle Sauvignon character."

2011 Hedges C.M.S. Columbia Valley ($13)
"I'm a big fan of Christophe Hedges in Washington state. He makes great wines for not a whole lot of money; even his top Cabernet isn't more than $30. And I think this wine—which is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah—ought to be on restaurant by-the-glass pours everywhere. "

2008 H&G Priorat ($14)
"This Spanish red, which is made primarily from Grenache picked at the peak of ripeness, way overdelivers for the dollars. It's funny—I still own a house in Gratallops, which is about population 250. When I worked the 2003 harvest season, there weren't any rental properties, so I just bit the bullet and bought a house. Mine's the third one on the right as you roll into town."

2011 Amalaya Malbec Blend ($16)
"Argentinean Malbec is the It red wine of the moment. This blend is a perfect, affordable example from the high-elevation Colomé estate."

2012 Pecchenino San Luigi Dolcetto Di Dogliani ($21)
"This wine was one of the very first Dolcettos I ever had—that would have been the '99 vintage, or earlier. To me, it's always shown the depth and complexity that Dolcetto can achieve; it's really a quintessential northern Italian red."

2011 Crasto Douro Red ($20)
"Classic Portuguese grapes go into this: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca. It's all intense red cherry and blackberry fruit, with a surprising amount of spice."
