This week F&W is shining the spotlight on pies. But this isn’t the first time the flaky confections have found themselves in the limelight. Here, five pies in starring roles.

Twin PeaksCherry Pie
In David Lynch’s cult favorite series, agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) frequents the Double R diner where he gets a “damn fine cup of coffee” and a slice of cherry pie. He loves the diner’s pies so much that in one episode he declares, “This must be where pies go when they die.”

"Sweeney Todd’s" Meat Pie
The musical thriller tells the tale of Sweeney Todd, a blood-thirsty barber who slits his customers’ throats, and Mrs. Lovett, an enterprising pie maker who goes from making the worst pies in London to the best meat pies around thanks to a secret ingredient: Sweeney Todd’s victims.

American Pie’s Apple Pie
This classic teen comedy showed audiences the sexy side of apple pie. Without going into too much detail, Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) uses an apple pie as prom night practice. While F&W does support some new ways to eat pie, we do not endorse this one.

Stand By Me’s Blueberry Pie
In this coming-of-age tale, Gordie (Wil Wheaton) tells a story about Davie “Lardass” Hogan, a bullied boy who sought revenge. In the story, Hogan enters a blueberry pie-eating contest, which he prepares for by drinking a bottle of castor oil and a raw egg. When he was done with his fifth pie, Hogan stands up and incites what is referred to in the movie as a “barf-o-rama.”

The Help’s “Chocolate” Pie
Another movie in which revenge is a dish best served in a pie, The Help’s ending hinges on a secret, stomach-churning ingredient in the chocolate pie that Minny (Octavia Spencer), a maid who is wrongly fired, bakes for her former boss Hilly (Bryce Dallas Howard). Coincidentally, F&W has the recipe for a pure version of Minny's pie.
