Despite the deluge of amazing treats coming out of the Food & Wine test kitchen every afternoon, we’ve been known to give in to street food cravings in New York City’s Midtown (chicken over rice from the Trini Paki Boys cart, anyone?). That said, we’re super-excited about a healthier option to quell unruly afternoon munchies, starting tomorrow:

On Tuesday, May 7, the Friendship cottage cheese truck will take to the streets of Manhattan, handing out free samples. The truck is highlighting a new line of mix-in toppings created in conjunction with recipe developer (and Food & Wine contributor) Adeena Sussman: Granola Glee includes granola, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and maple syrup, and the Instant Wasabi flavor combines crispy onions and wasabi peas. Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito is getting in on the healthy action as well, serving his Friendship Apple Pie Smoothie from the roving truck. Friendship will announce the truck’s locations on Facebook and Twitter at @FriendshipDairy. Our plan is to cajole them into parking outside our office more often.
