Christopher Hitchens usually reserves his polemical wit for substantial targets like God, Henry Kissinger and Mother Teresa (always found that last one a bit odd), but in Slate he cuts loose at the waiterly tactic of refilling glasses without being asked to. Having been annoyed by this behavior myself—excuse me, but do you mind if I drink at my own pace?—I thought the piece was an engaging corrective.
