Lobster Giveaway For a Good Cause

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how rising fuel costs have made it more expensive than ever for North Carolina's Larry Kellum to catch shrimp.  His method for dealing with the situation: to stay ashore and not shrimp. According to a recent article in the Guardian, a local Prince Edward Island paper, a group of lobstermen from the area have another (unusual) form of protest against the soaring fuel costs and low prices their catch is fetching: a lobster giveaway. This Wednesday, members of the Canadian-based Eastern Kings Fishermen’s Association will be throwing a "Price Protest Lobster Giveaway," from 3-6 p.m. at the Charlottetown Mall on PEI (670 University Avenue).
