Café Trio It's easy to get a little claustrophobic in Snowbird and Alta, since there isn't much to do other than ski. After a couple of days, I'm ready for a night away from my hotel. Café Trio, a casual new Italian restaurant at the foot of Big Cottonwood Canyon, on the outskirts of Salt Lake City—and a spin-off of a three-year-old downtown Salt Lake restaurant—is an easy 15-minute drive from both resorts. Lamp-shade chandeliers add a whimsical touch to the dining room, which attracts après-ski crowds for cocktails and bar snacks like rosemary flatbread, and for the unflashy, well-executed dishes: big salads, pizzas and pastas (orecchiette with clams, spaghetti carbonara).
