Torres makes more than 50 different wines. These are five of F&W's favorites from the family's properties in Spain.
2000 Gran Sangre de Toro ($15) This higher-end cousin of Sangre de Toro, the wine that made the Torres name famous, is also based on Garnacha but has more intense blackberry flavor.
2003 Nerola White ($18) This blend of grapes from across Catalonia gets its smooth texture from Garnacha Blanca and peachy scent from Xarel-lo.
2003 Celeste ($22) The first release from the Torres's new project in Ribera del Duero, this deep-colored, cherry-inflected Tinto Fino is powerful and tannic, with a peppery finish.
1998 Grans Muralles ($104) This impeccably balanced, plummy wine, a personal favorite of Miguel Torres, blends some of the region's oldest varieties—Monastrell, Garnacha Tinta, Garró, Samsó and Cariñena.
2000 Jean Leon Zemis ($150) Zemis, the Penedès estate managed by Miguel Torres, Jr., produces this ageworthy blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, dense with black-currant flavor.
