Tomato Party Wines
Tomatoes, even at their peak of summer sweetness, are fairly tangy, so they pair well with wines that have a lush fruitiness for balance—just the kind of wines a warm climate like Napa Valley's tends to produce. For this garden party menu of bite-size hors d'oeuvres made with tomatoes, open a couple of summery whites and a rosé, all from Napa Valley, and serve them through the whole event. Some good choices are St. Supéry's vivid, citrusy 2005 Sauvignon Blanc, the luxuriously floral 2004 Joseph Phelps Viognier, and Folie à Deux's juicy 2004 Ménage à Trois Rosé, an unusual blend of Merlot, Syrah and Gewürztraminer.
