On my way back to New York City, I discovered a store at the Portland airport calledMade in Oregon, which sells a vast array of Oregon foods: wild huckleberry jam, Marionberry jam, chocolate-covered hazelnuts, smoked salmon and oysters, Parson Sweet prunes. I stocked up on all the things I had never seen and those that I knew would be hard to find at home. I figured if the plane crashed I could stuff myself on the way down, or, even better, I could eat the treats when I had safely landed while waiting for my next chance to return. And if that took longer than anticipated, I had the store's mail-order number: 800-828-9673 and web address: http://www.madeinoregon.com/
