9:00 a.m. Morning in Nantucket Town, and Michael Fahey is busy at his exceptional shop, Fahey & Fromagerie, loading up with wines and provisions to deliver to local restaurateurs; he'll drop them off in the course of the day. The summer visitors who descend on this former whaling island are among those grateful for Fahey's influence on Nantucket wine lists.
11:00 a.m. Fahey & Fromagerie's Pleasant Street store is a haven for Nantucketers who love artisanal foods, from Jodi Levesque's legendary brownies to Evan Marley's pizzas. Ron Suhanosky and Colleen Marnell-Suhanosky, owners of the new trattoria Sfoglia, rely on Fahey & Fromagerie for many supplies, including top-quality estate-bottled olive oils and boutique wines.
1:00 p.m. Lunchtime is the prime hour for a sail around the Brant Point Lighthouse on the island's north side; for Fahey, it's time for a tasting with a longtime friend, Alan Cunha, at Cunha's restaurant, Le Languedoc. This Nantucket institution and its three-year-old wine bar, Fahey at the Languedoc--both open only in season--are among the hottest spots on the island.
4:00 p.m. Seth and Angela Raynor, chef and proprietrix (as she puts it), respectively, of Nantucket Town's seafood restaurant the Pearl, and its popular next-door neighbor the Boarding House, await a haul of Jodi Levesque's desserts. Deliveries done, Fahey returns to the store--but his day isn't over. Late afternoons on Nantucket are made for wine tastings.
