Both oatmeal and powdered milk are great for the skin, says Christine Dimmick. Apricot kernel oil can be found at health food stores, and lavender essential oil is available at The Body Shop and other purveyors of natural-beauty products.
For the scrub, grind 1/2 cup rolled oats in a blender or food processor until fine; you should have 1/2 cup. Transfer to a bowl and mix with 1/2 cup dry powdered milk. Stir in 1 tablespoon apricot kernel oil, 2 drops lavender essential oil and 1/2 cup water. Apply the paste to face, hands, feet or legs; scrub, then rinse off, for silky skin. Can be refrigerated for up to 5 days. Makes about 3/4 cup.
