Save your corks to turn into place card holders. Use craft glue to affix three corks of equal height in a row; then create a second row of three more corks. Once the adhesive has completely dried, bundle the two rows together with kitchen twine. Insert the place card between the two rows.
The Centerpiece
Nico De Swert made this grape "topiary" by spearing the stem ends of grapes with toothpicks and inserting them all over a halved oasis ball, available from any florist ($13 for two six-inch balls from B & J Florist's Supply; 212-564-6086), filling gaps with moss and trimmed lemon leaves. He put the topiary on a copper tray with moss bedding ($65 without tray; www.nicodeswert.com).
The Wineglass
Write an appropriate phrase ("in vino veritas," for instance) on the wineglasses. You can rub the letters onto the outside of the glass from dry-transfer sheets, available in white or black lettering (item number M11124CL at Pearl Paint; 212-431-7932). The rubbed letters wash off easily with soap and water.
The Invitation
Create an envelope within an envelope, to evoke the idea of wine country travel. Make a faux stamp for the inner envelope by reducing a wine label on a color copier. Then trim the sides with decorative scissors ($8 at The Ink Pad; 212-463-9876) to create scalloped
edging.
