Every year over a million wildebeest and about 200,000
zebra migrate through the Serengeti. They head from the
northern hills to the southern plains in November,
following the rains, then swirl west and north starting in
April. They generally pass through the Western Corridor,
where Grumeti Reserves is located, in June and July, though
there's an abundance of wildlife in the Reserves
year-round.
Where to Stay Grumeti Reserves has three locations: Sasakwa
Lodge ($1,500 per night), Sabora Plains Tented Camp ($850
per night) and Faru Faru River Lodge ($850 per night,
opening June 1). Prices include all meals, most wines, a
one-hour spa treatment per stay, and activities including
wildlife drives and walks, tennis, archery and horseback
riding. DETAILS 770-947-7049 or grumetireserves.com.
