HOW TO REGISTER
Next year's Médoc marathon will be in early September; to register, contact the race organizer, Congas (011-33-5-56-40-50-50), or book a six-night package, including the race registration fee and hotel accommodations, through Marathon Tours and Travel (800-444-4097). The race starts and ends in the Bordeaux town of Pauillac; the 26.2-mile course loops through the villages of Artigues and Beychevelle and past 59 vineyards, including such illustrious properties as Lafite Rothschild, Lynch Bages and Latour.
WHERE TO EAT
Château Cordeillan-Bages serves Michelin-starred cuisine (Route des Châteaux, Pauillac; 011-33-5-56-59-24-24). La Tupina prepares specialties of the region, including foie gras (6 Rue Porte de la Monnaie, Bordeaux; 011-33-5-56-91-56-37).
