How to get there Virgin Atlantic (800-862-8621) flies direct to London's Heathrow Airport from 10 U.S. cities. From London's Paddington station, it's a 40-minute rail trip. Cliveden can arrange for a chauffeured car to bring you to the house for $15 plus tip.

Diversions The Cliveden Pavilion has two swimming pools and a spa. Tennis, badminton and squash are also available. Two historic riverboats and an electric canoe from the 1920s can be hired for a Thames excursion.
