Korean cooking, with its bold, comforting flavors and basic techniques, is extremely rewarding. The presentation of meals is simple, with everything served together family style, accompanied by hot rice and an assortment of pickled vegetables. Cabbage kimchi is served at every meal, but since it's time-consuming to make, I suggest that you buy it at a Korean grocery. For beverages, try the delicious Korean roast barley tea called poricha, sold in teabags, and the sweet-potato vodka called sojou. Cold beer is also a good choice.
