Michel Bras, at age 33, takes over as chef of his parents’ restaurant and inn, Lou Mazuc, in Laguiole, France.
Bras replaces Lou Mazuc with a stark glass, granite and slate restaurant and hotel just outside Laguiole. Its name: Michel Bras.
The Michelin Guide awards Michel Bras three Michelin stars, its highest honor.
Bras opens his second restaurant, called Michel Bras Toya Japon, at the Windsor Hotel on the island of Hokkaido, Japan.
With Bras’s son, Sébastien, working as co-chef, the restaurant name becomes Bras Michel & Sébastien.
Bras and Japanese knife maker KAI introduce a line of titanium-coated chef’s knives, designed by Bras (braskai.net).
