If you drive south from Nashville through 75 miles of fields, forests and stud farms, you'll reach Lynchburg, Tennessee. Like other pilgrimage towns, Lynchburg has a sacred spring, but the town's saint is Jack Daniel, the feisty and diminutive whiskey mogul. The free tours of the Jack Daniel Distillery (931-759-4221) are fascinating--and hilarious showcases for the dry wit of "Junior" Donegan and other local guides. For lunch, head toward the town square for a pulled-pork sandwich at the Bar-B-Que Caboose (931-759-5180), or make reservations at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House for a communal Southern supper (931-759-7394).
