The menu for this winter grilling party, like the menu at Frasca, takes inspiration from the cuisine of Friuli, in northern Italy. Frasca’s wine list also focuses on the region’s wines—arguably Italy’s greatest whites, says Frasca’s co-owner Bobby Stuckey. Here he suggests three of his favorite whites (and one delicious red).

2005 TENUTA LUISA TOCAI FRIULANO ($18) "This is perfect for the Pinot Grigio fan," Bobby says. "It combines the crispness of Sauvignon Blanc with the melony fruit of Pinot Grigio. And it’s inexpensive."

2005 LIVIO FELLUGA TOCAI FRIULANO ($23) Felluga’s Tocai has more minerality and depth than the Tenuta Luisa, and lively, snappy acidity.

2004 VIE DI ROMANS CHARDONNAY ($32) Rich and floral, "this would make even a fan of big, rich California Chardonnays happy," says Bobby.

2002 BASTIANICH VESPA ROSSO ($33) New York-based restaurateur Joe Bastianich, who owns a winery in Friuli, adds a touch of the region’s native Refosco to Cabernet and Merlot in this velvety red. —Ray Isle
