In a snap, you can turn wonton skins into a tasty snack. Simply cut the skins into strips, season and bake. Here are two versions, one savory, the other sweet.
SALTED WONTON STRIPS. Brush one side of the wonton skins lightly with oil, cut into thin strips and toss in a flavored salt (see Spiced Salt, this page) or a simple mixture of salt and pepper. Spread the strips on a baking sheet and toast in a preheated 350° oven for 5 to 8 minutes, or until they are lightly browned and crisp.
SUGARED WONTON STRIPS. Mix 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar with 1 tablespoon water and brush on 1 side of the wonton skins. Cut them into thin strips and spread them, sugared sides up, on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 350° oven for about 8 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Toss in confectioners' sugar when cool.
