Maurizio Zanella has been impressed by the work of several Franciacorta producers; the wines of these may be the easiest to find.

Cavalleri Although this winery is best known for its elegant sparkling bottlings—most notably its flagship, Collezione Esclusiva—it's also home to well-regarded red and white still wines.

Monte Rossa The sparkling wines of Monte Rossa regularly receive high marks from the Italian wine press; its 1997 Brut Cabochon Cuvée won Gambero Rosso's coveted Tre Bicchieri award.

Bellavista This estate, established in 1976, produces intense, beautifully balanced sparkling wines famous for their great purity of flavor.

Other Zanella favorites Wines from these producers may require a bit more of a search: Ricci Curbastro, Gatti, Ferghettina and Uberti.
