How to Get There Trout Point Lodge is a 35-minute drive from Yarmouth and a four-hour drive from the international airport at Halifax. Yarmouth has a small airport served by Air Nova (888-247-2262) and is the terminus point for ferries from Maine: from Bar Harbor (888-249-7245) and Portland (800-341-7540).

Where to Stay Trout Point offers a range of options: Guests can take a room at the lodge ($120 to $230 a night) or opt also to eat all three meals there ($250 to $345 inclusive). Visitors can also choose a culinary vacation, which includes field trips and instruction time in the kitchen ($495 a person for 3-day, 2-night programs and $850 for 4-day, 3-night programs). This year's courses include seafood, wild foods, and Cajun, Creole and Acadian techniques and ingredients. Their season runs from mid-May to late October (East Kemptville, Nova Scotia; 902-742-0980 or 877-812-0112).
