Reminiscent of a castle, the Beringer estate is the oldest operating winery in Napa, having produced sacramental wine during Prohibition. Founded by brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer in 1876, the winery still retains its hand-chiseled rock tunnels for cellaring, and the Rhine house, which is filled with Belgian art-noveau furniture made from oak and walnut trees. Open daily, the facility can be toured in guided groups. Visitors can then taste limited-production wines in the Rhine house, while most of the current releases can be sampled in the original winery. A culinary arts center is also housed on the property.
Congratulations to Mei Lin, winner of Top Chef Season 12.
