With 85 acres of vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley, this small production winery has been family owned and operated for four generations. In the early 1900's, Italian immigrant Alberto Rafanelli founded the winery and started growing grapes on a knoll that overlooks the valley. Today, A. Rafanelli specializes in Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, producing 11,000 cases annually; wines are barrel-aged in an underground cave, which is sometimes open for tours. The label's wines can only be sampled and bought direct through the winery or their mailing list. Though the tasting room is open daily, appointments are required.
