Palm Springs Aerial Tram
The Palm Springs Aerial Tram has been taking passengers to the top of Mount San Jacinto since 1963. Up to 80 people can fit into a glass-encased, revolving tram for the 10-minute, 2 ½-mile ascent with stops at Valley Station and Mountain Station. The Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument can be viewed from the top peak. At night, views include the lights of the Coachella Valley. Although permits to explore the mountain are free, each visitor must register for a wilderness pass beforehand.
