Terrasse Dufferin

Pl. Terrasse Dufferin
Quebec City , Quebec , Canada

Terrasse Dufferin, which is perched just below the iconic Fairmont Château le Frontenac, is a public park with sweeping vistas of the St. Lawrence River. Situated between upper and lower Quebec, La Terrasse was built in 1879 by Lord Dufferin, who transformed a military fortification into a public greenbelt and walkway. This national historic monument can be accessed via The Plains of Abraham above or a Lower Town funicular below. In 2010, Canada’s park system restored much of the ruins here, including four Saint-Louis forts and châteaux once governed by both French and British power brokers.
