Andros Bonefishing

Print
Andros , Bahamas

Sprawling, unspoiled Andros has a coastline threaded with mudflats, bights, and shallow lagoons: prime territory for catching bonefish. These elusive, slippery swimmers are highly prized as game fish (not so much for eating), so the island has become a top destination for anglers, especially during the peak months of March and April. The Andros Island Bonefish Club (www.androsbonefishing.com) offers three- and four-day fishing packages at its compound in Cargill Creek (double-occupancy rates start at about $1,700 per person) and include daily, guided flat-bottom boat trips and basic meals and accommodations). Small Hope Bay Lodge (www.smallhope.com), set right next to Fresh Creek (one of Andros's main bonefishing spots), offers half- and full-day guided trips with all fly-fishing gear included.
