Simmer Sails, located in Paia in northern Maui, has been producing windsurfing gear for over 25 years; the equipment is tested at Ho'okipa beach and is internationally renowned. The chief designer is Tomas Persson and some special features of the sails are (for the technically inclined): multiple angle boom head, intergrated mast shim, monocoque contstruction, and anti-lock levers. The Mission X 2012 model offers lighter weight, but the Icon model is the most popular. Simmer sponsors an international team headed by Kai "Flykatcher" Katchadourian. Used rental gear, clothing with Simmer's logo, and beach apparel are available as well.
