The Shop

This stylish antique-and-housewares shop, across from The Four Seasons in Sayan, sells elegant furnishings, carpets, textiles, and objects that reflect the Southeast-Asian expertise of English treasure-hunter Deborah Gardner. Each of the pieces from Indonesia, Burma, Thailand and Laos comes with a letter of provenance listing the details of its origin. Deborah's favorite piece is a reclining 18th-century alabaster Burmese Buddha whose meditative expression and upturned lips are typical of the period. Other treasures include century-old wooden Petruk puppets, crystal decanters, gas lanterns, and Debbie's own Moorish-inspired jewelry designs.
