MADE Art Boutique
Cindy Dach stocks her “art boutique” with bright red Moleskine calendars, the latest Miranda July stories, and locally made jewelry—including handcrafted silver rings, crystal earrings, and glittery poker-chip necklaces. She carries hard-to-find magazines such as Metropolis, and selects the best work of local creative types: votives by sculptor Jeremy Bridell, wall-size felt squirrels by artist Cyndi Coon, and monster-print T-shirts by illustrator and sculptor Roy Wasson Valle. Dach is also the general manager of the city’s best independent bookstore, Changing Hands (6428 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe; 480/730-0205; www.changinghands.com).
Tip: Sign up for the newsletter on the shop’s Web site for info about workshops (on beading, knitting, chocolate-dipping) and occasional theme shows; in the past they’ve flaunted artists’ collections of cookie jars, birdhouses, and clocks.
