Iggy’s Bread of the World
Iggy's, a brick storefront sandwiched between a lumber supply warehouse and a fire station in Cambridge's industrial area, supplies many of the city’s restaurants and coffee shops with bread and pastries. The success of this bakery, whose business model revolves around ingredients obtained via sustainable methods and the preference for manual work over machines in the kitchen, was dramatic enough to inspire a case study in the Harvard Business Review. While the store offers pizzas and sandwiches, its specialties are the simpler items: baguettes, seven-grain rolls, and sourdough loaves, all sold from wicker baskets hanging on the white walls.
