Seasoned cheese professional Lindsey Schechter started Houston Dairymaids in 2008 dedicated to finding the best artisan cheese makers in Texas and bringing their products to Houston. The company seeks out cheeses made by hand, and if possible, using unpasteurized milk. Inside its Heights warehouse, Houston Dairymaids offers cheese tastings every Friday and Saturday. Guests can sample and order a variety of cheeses, including their popular Redneck Cheddar, and the shop also sells breads, local honeys, olives, jellies, and crackers. Tastings run from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
