This nature store in Western Maine formed its ethos by combining three ideas: eco (ecology), pelagi (pelagic), and con (conservation), with pelagic referring to surface life in coastal waters. Ecopelagicon flies an American flag out front, and inside, the shop sell books that aid local adventures with subjects like gardening, candle making, and cooking local catch, whether they be fish or geese. The store rents kayaks, which can travel on one of the seven nearby lakes, as well as items that don’t require action like DVDs, CDs, and educational toys.
