Chehade El Bahsa & Sons
Specializing in homemade Middle Eastern desserts, this cash-only Lebanese pastry shop is located 30 minutes southwest of Sydney in the suburb of Bankstown. Set in a small shopping center, the no-frills space contains glass cases lined with baklava, ladyfingers, and coconut waffles. Another specialty is the znoud el sit, a deep-fried phyllo roll filled with qashta (clotted cream) and topped with sweet syrup and pistachio flakes. A handful of beige booths are available for dine-in, but takeout is the more popular option.
