Wess Connally opened his bookstore on the ground floor of a white Victorian building on Ridgeley’s Main Street in 1996, keeping in mind “great lines of literature and that it takes thinkers to make them.” He designed the selection at his grassroots bookstore to appeal to readers with general interests, but he also makes sure to stock site-specific novels and guides. The shop sells CDs as well, and he even shares space with the Birds of a Feather Gallery, a cooperative of local artists who fill the walls with watercolor paintings and fabric art, plus calendars and bookmarks from artists like Pamela Ellis.
