The unification of Italy and fall of the Vatican political state reinstated the civil rights of the Jewish people of Rome, and they celebrated with the construction of the Great Synagogue. Completed in 1904 and opened to the public in 1960, the six exhibition rooms include many silver objects, textiles, marble pieces, documents, and parchments drawn from more than 2,000 years of inhabitation in Rome. The gallery of ancient marble tablets dates back to the 16th century. Tours are conducted every hour in Italian and English.
