Sean Kelly
Sean Kelly is probably what you think of when you imagine a Chelsea art gallery: an open, 7,000-square-foot space with polished concrete floors, white walls, and skylights. Vast enough to display large-scale work, the gallery often features installation pieces by artists of international stature such as Laurie Anderson and Iran do Espírito Santo. Sean Kelly shows are edgy and provocative, often political in nature. You won’t see many up-and-comers here: This gallery is for those who’ve already arrived and whose work is selected for the major exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale.
