At the Hort Farm (as it’s locally known), students from the University of Vermont have conducted biological research for more than 60 years. At present, the 97-acre facility hosts experimental apple orchards, grape vines, ornamental shrubbery, flower gardens, and a bat house. Four days per week, (and outside sensitive growing periods) the center is open to the community, where visitors are able to wander the trails freely or pick up descriptive brochures. Educational workshops for gardeners on subjects like pruning, building a trellis, and growing mushrooms take place throughout the year.
