After transforming his boyhood home into a full-time job in the late 1970s, Nick Cowles now manages 80 acres of apple, peach, and sour cherry orchards along Lake Champlain. Business opens during autumn and reaches a peak with the foliage, when leaf-peepers arrive by the thousands to fill their bags with Gala, Cortland, Red Delicious, and McIntosh apples. There are plenty of family-friendly activities, as well, like hayrides, face painting, and petting bunny rabbits. On-site refreshments include fresh apple cider and ginger jack.
