In 2003, 20 years after its founding, the Miami Children’s Museum was relocated to a $25 million residence on Watson Island near downtown. The new layout features 14 galleries where kids can walk through a six-foot piggy bank to design their own money, spy creatures in a 900-gallon marine tank, and wander a two-story castle filled with sands from across the globe. Guests can also visit a recording studio before meeting MiChiMu, the museum's colorful mascot whose large eye and exclamation point design represent curiosity and enthusiasm. Classes, day camps, and outreach programs enhance the experience, as well.
