Besides trails, dog parks, and play areas, the historic Balboa Park is home to such attractions as the world-famous San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Museum of Art. The massive park covers 1,200 acres and has around 100 attractions ranging from museums to performing arts halls. The iconic Old Globe theatre is located in the park, as well as the quirky Starlight Theatre and Starlight Bowl. Almost 20 different botanical gardens dot the park, and children especially enjoy the turn-of-the-century carousel and the antique miniature railroad ride.
