Stretching from south Burlington to the Winooski River delta, this 7.6-mile recreational path is popular with joggers, bikers, and inline skaters. Built from a former railway, the path runs along the shore of Lake Champlain and links six public parks, including Waterfront Park, where bike rentals are available. The trails also passes two beaches and several picnic areas with panoramic views of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains. North of the river delta, the trail extends out over the lake itself, with water lapping on both sides. This exposed position often makes for difficult riding conditions, especially on rainy days.
