Located in downtown San Diego right on the water in the city’s scenic bay, the USS Midway is the first aircraft carrier to be built after World War II and is now a museum dedicated to this massive ship and other military aircraft. The San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum is a collection of 60 exhibits and 27 restored aircraft, and almost the entire ship is available to tour such as sleeping bunks, officer’s quarters, kitchens, chapel, radio rooms, engine rooms and bridge. The flight deck is filled with WWII-to-Operation Desert Storm naval planes.
