Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art
The Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art comprises 12,000 square feet of exhibition space designed by Jean Nouvel. This non-profit organization was founded by Alain Dominique Perrin in 1984 and displays the diverse creations of modern-day artists like Arman, Cesar, Liza Lou, and Jean-Pierre Raynaud. The transparent, glass-box structure with adjoining glass screens also houses one of Patrick Blanc’s famous hanging gardens, which serves as the gate to the medieval medicinal garden out back. In warm weather, Cartier Foundation can “undress” by sliding its plate-glass windows entirely out of sight, leaving only the framework in view.
Congratulations to Mei Lin, winner of Top Chef Season 12.
